Job Description
Under supervision performs work in a variety of duties relating to customer service, data entry and general property assessment functions. Position will have direct contact with the public. It will provide clerical support for the Assessor’s Office. Answer phones, greet and assist in-person customers, process exemption applications, exemption point of contact for CCAO office, data entry of building permits, clerical and data entry support for office, filing and additional duties as requested.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Customer Service
- Answer phone and direct calls
- Greet and assist in-person customers
- Assist taxpayers, realtors, attorneys etc. with general assessment and appeal inquiries
- Exemptions
- Assist taxpayers with electronic exemption applications and renewals
- Correspondence with the taxpayer as needed
- Building Permits and Sales
- Enter open/closed permits and Certificates of Occupancy into CAMA software
- File open permits in field work binder accordingly
- Assist with field work and inspections as needed
- Clerical/Data Entry
- Filing of all paperwork and forms for the office
- Data entry of CEs, BRs and building permits into their respective software systems
- Clerical support for Assessor and Deputy and, as needed, for Board of Review evidence and appeals
- Other duties as needed and assigned
Education, prior work experience, and specialized skills and knowledge:
Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in an office environment with exposure to word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Have a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Excellent punctuality and dependability. Ability to evaluate and prioritize tasks independently. Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies, rules, and guidelines.
